Marilyn Monroe, once said,
“Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world!”…
the Marilyn's of Marilyn Jetty Swim say...
"just give her the right bathing suit, a blonde wig and a touch of red lippy!”
Established in 2014, the Marilyn Jetty Swim has become an iconic part of the Brighton Jetty Classic and has raised $230,000 for Cancer Council SA. The fifth Marilyn Jetty Swim will be particularly special as it falls on Sunday, 4 February which is also celebrated internationally as World Cancer Day.
A truly global event, World Cancer Day unites the world’s population in the pursuit of a cancer free future. For Marilyn Jetty Swim Founder, Sarah Tinney, who lost her mum to cancer in 2007, having the event on World Cancer Day makes it even more important. “Leading the Marilyn Jetty Swim every year is my time to reflect on the loss of my mum and also do something positive to raise money for cancer. Knowing that the Marilyn’s will be uniting in the cause and taking to the beach on such a special day makes it even more important!”
The Marilyn Jetty Swim will see more than 100 women dressed head to toe in the image of their icon Marilyn Munroe swim 400 metres around the Brighton Jetty. “The swim is by no way a beauty competition; it’s about having fun while supporting a worthy cause!” said Sarah.
“The Marilyn Jetty Swim empowers women by bringing them together to do something positive and raise money for cancer. For some it is a way to remember those currently going through treatment, whilst for others it’s a chance to remember those who are no longer with us,” said Sarah.
“Don't ask yourself why, ask yourself why not. Why not do something fabulous and eye catching with an amazing group of women and make a difference to people living with cancer?” Registrations are now open for the 2018 Marilyn Jetty Swim, a once in a lifetime experience that raises much needed funds for Cancer Council SA.
You can sign up today to be a Marilyn by visiting www.themarilyns.org.
The Marilyn's will also get together for the Marilyn's Soiree, which is free to all Marilyns participating in the event. Dress for the night is all white and this is where Ruby Rouge comes in. Kim Davis from Ruby Rouge is giving anyone participating in the event 20% of any pieces of white clothing for their big night AND 10% off all clothing. There are some beautiful white pieces to choose from, with more coming in this week. So come in and tell Kim and her team that you are a Marilyn and they will apply your discount and help you choose something, if you need. We have lovingly grouped together some white clothing and accessories just for our 'Marilyns'.
